- 1 in 4 women have experienced domestic violence in there lifetime
- 3 million women are effected by some sort of domestic violence each year.
Where are you right now, can you look at 4 women and point out which one is being abused. Now your thinking none of these women have bruises or marks visible to me, so how do I know. Domestic Violence comes in many different forms.
- Physical Abuse
- Sexual Abuse
- Economic Abuse
- Psychological Abuse
These are just a few forms of Domestic Violence, not all of them result in bruises but they all result in a family being destroyed, children hurt and traumatized for a lifetime, and women/men's self worth diminished. This is one epidemic that isn't talked about, is frowned on, and it's not the abuser that is hurt; it's the victim.
My platform is Empowering Women and joining the fight to end domestic violence. I'm SPEAKING OUT and no longer being SILENCED!!
I need to connect you with Happy Hour with Hats. The woman running it, Marsha has a story you wouldn't believe. She is trying to stop domestic violence by reaching not only women but men as well. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of Happy Hour with Hats. I run because I am a survivor of domestic violence and the man who was my rock through it all passed away from cancer and running was his thing. I think it's important for people to understand women are hurt by it but men can also be targeted. Also things many forget about is the children (boys and girls) who witness domestic violence or are even in the mix of it with there parents, they are the ones that can potentially continue the bad cycle. wow I can go on forever about this!! I will google the group :) Thanks Larissa!!
